#12 Engineer Jacket - The Super Heavy

At 18 ounces this denim is squarely in the extra heavy weight class. The moment you pick up this jacket you feel the heft. The refreshingly unique thing is how soft and pliable the fabric is. That's extremely rare to find in a monster weight selvedge. It's almost like a nicely worn in leather in its density and movement. It's that rare combination of weight and softness that we love. You feel tough wearing this jacket but you can actually enjoy it right on day one. That's a very good thing because the fades are absolutely gorgeous. It starts with a bright indigo shade that's a bit lighter than a traditional dark indigo. It has a more open weave that brightens the overall look further. You've probably seen the wear-in shots of this denim in pant form - any denim lover's dream. True vintage style and gold standard monster weight selvedge.

Our Engineer Jacket is an exercise in refinement and turning the crank until we had perfected each element. The first step was dialing in fit. We retain the classic roots of the shape while giving it a solid tailoring. The body is just right - fitted but not tight. The sleeves are clean and not overly wide, enhancing the sharpness of the silhouette. The classic point collar is there and we passed through countless shapes until we landed on the perfect length. The front hem bottoms are gently curved. We kept the classic 4 pocket front that defines this style and really lined up pocket size and placement. To honor the use of selvedge fabric and the tie in to this historic style we’re incorporating the selvedge in a few special ways. Some seen, other just for you to enjoy. There’s nothing better than seeing a long, “busted seam” with the selvedge edge. It’s the highlight for raw selvedge denim fans. We run this seam, unbroken up the entire back of the garment. You see it each time you reach for this jacket. Just for you to enjoy. On the outside, we incorporate the selvedge edge on the two small chest pockets.
