#179 Indigo X Plaid Workshirt

You gave us the challenge to find a stellar lined denim and we accepted. The parameters - 1) It needed to be a classic denim. 2) The combination of materials had to actually feel good in garment form, not just look cool. All problems have been masterfully solved by our partner mill. On top, we have a classic indigo denim. A low starch finish and loose weave yield a flowingly soft hand. On the bottom, an iconic retro plaid. Faded reds, moss, cream. Think old-school, and these colors and patterns instantly come to mind. The combination is visually great if you choose to show it off. The crisp blue with vintage plaid colors is perfect. The method of combining the two fabrics is what really puts this over the top. Unlike some double fabrics, this one is fully joined. You don't have the separation between layers that can sometimes cause a garment to feel awkward on the body. This one is unified and exceptionally soft for raw denim. The full weight of both layers is highly versatile - a full year-round option. This is a must own style.

Several construction details define our workshirt. The first is ample triple needlework with a classic chain stitch runoff. Triple needle is a specialized stitch not found on standard button downs and that serves as the heart of any good work shirt. Ours gets triple-needle flat-felled yoke and side seams with chain stitched bottoms. We also allow the side seam chain stitch to “run off” the end, giving you three chain stitch ends on each side. We bar tack to ensure the runoff can’t compromise the security of the side seam. The second detail is double chest pockets. We keep ours a bit cleaner, without flaps, but use button closures and double bar tacks in each corner for added strength. The left chest pocket gets the addition of a small pen slot. The third detail is the side hem gussets. It’s a small functional element and looks absolutely great. Finally, we love the chin strap. Ours is small enough to be tasteful while reminding you of the workwear roots of the garment. We created new custom Corozo buttons specifically for our work shirts. Overall, this is one of our most intricately constructed garments and one of the most costly to produce.
