An iconic workwear fabric taken to the highest level by the masters in Japan. Organic cotton, beautifully intense texture, and the rarest natural dye for stunning color. This is fabric art you can enjoy every day in our classic denim style. The Charcoal Dye Selvedge Chambray.
Note: We recommend going up one size in this fabric.
These are examples of what Japan can do when it takes a classic style like chambray and dials every component way up with true craft. It starts with yarn. You rarely see this level of slub texture in finer, lighter weight chambrays. The wonderful irregularity in yarn thickness creates incredible gain that's almost like the surface of wood. It's the perfect way to allow the contrasting warp and weft to play off each other. Next comes the yarn composition itself - organic cotton - rare and costly. The true star is the dye itself. Each style uses natural and incredibly rare dyes. This version uses charcoal extracts to create a deep metallic grey in the warp. As you can see, the resulting color is worth the work and expense.
