This Italian denim showcases what the country's mills do best - unique color, style and comfort. We add in one of our workshirt values of the season. The Italy Dark Oak Workshirt.
We love what Italy brings to the table. Mills there always take denim in a uniquely Italian way, almost like their unique signature. While they may not be our go-to for traditional selvedge, they never fail to create a fresh take on denim. It starts with color, just like in this special style with the combination of an intensely dark brown warp and crisp white weft. The entire look is transformed by a flame grain that allows the weft to burst through in streaks, becoming a near equal partner to the dark warp. It's a bright surface, full of visual texture. Per usual, wearability is high as well. 11 ounces, low starch and just a touch of stretch make this denim easy to love in workshirt form. Italian hallmarks - fresh style and great comfort.
Several construction details define our workshirt. The first is ample triple needlework with a classic chain stitch runoff. Triple needle is a specialized stitch not found on standard button downs and that serves as the heart of any good work shirt. Ours gets triple need flat felled yoke and side seams with chain stitched bottoms. We also allow the side seam chain stitch to “run off” the end giving you three chain stitch ends on each side. We bar tack to ensure the runoff can’t compromise the security of the side seam. The second detail is double chest pockets. We keep ours a bit cleaner, without flaps, but use button closures and double bar tacks in each corner for added strength. The left chest pocket gets the addition of a small pen slot. The third detail is the side hem gussets. It’s a small functional element and looks great. On our selvedge styles, we incorporate the selvedge on the bottom. Finally, we love the chin strap. Ours is small enough to be tasteful while still reminding you of the workwear roots of the garment. We created new custom Corozo buttons specifically for our work shirts. They’re a deep navy shade with a slightly domed top and two holes for securing. Overall, this is one of our most intricately constructed garments and one of the most costly to produce.
Our workshirts are available in our Classic and Slim fits. The main differences in details between our workshirts and our other shirting come down to construction - no back box pleat, and differently shaped side scoops. The Slim fit has a more tailored body as compared to our Classic fit. Chest and waist come in to provide a more fitted option. Details are in our fit guide.

Customer Feedback on #168 ITALY DARK OAK WORKSHIRT
"This is the first item I've bought from Gustin, and being in the UK with the extra cost of shipping was a bit concerned about sizing and quality issues from.what I had read on the internet. I need not have worried, quality is very good and sizing is described."

"It’s hard for me to believe a company like Gustin is going to put unfiltered reviews on their website. Let’s find out. I have bought over fourty items from Gustin. Some have been great some got sold on ebay (company would not take returns) some ended up in donations. When they are good they are one of the best clothing companies out there. Gustin is however consistently inconsistent. This shirt is a winner. I’m 6’1” 210 lbs and wear size L-XL other brands. This means I wear size XXL in Gustin shirts. That is the largest size they offer and on some XXL shirts I unfortunately still can not close all the buttons. Since there is no XXXL. If you’re bigger than me you may be out of luck with Gustin. The Dark Oak Workshirt is superior in many ways. The color is truly unique. It’s not brown it’s not grey. It is its own color and texture. For a beefy shirt the fabric is surprisingly soft and supple on both sides of the fabric. The back of the fabric is so soft it feels almost like synthetic fibers. This is for sure a winner and keeper. I would say it may be worth owning two of these. I personally dry clean all denim clothes (shirts and jeans). I do this for two reasons. The first is that dry cleaning unlike laundry with water will not alter the shape and size. Since Gustin runs ridiculously small I don’t want them to shrink further. Dry cleaning also keeps indigo denim looking new. Indigo is water soluble but it’s not soluble in trichloroethylene or whatever solvent modern dry clears use. I think the work shirt pockets could be improved by making them just big enough to carry a cell phone. (Needs about another 1/4”. At least on the XXL size. I want to give a shout out to Gustin for not cropping shirts short. Too many clothing companies now cut shirts short because people don’t tuck in their shirts. In my opinion a proper shirt should be long enough to tuck it if you want. Even a work shirt. I often wear the work shirt over a thin button up shirt over a tucked T-shirt. It’s important the outer shirt has the length to cover the inner shirt esp in the back. I own eight Gustin work shirt and this is my close second favorite after the #94 HEMP INDIGO SELVEDGE WORKSHIRT Which is my all time favorite. The price is not that important to me. For $99 the #168 ITALY DARK OAK WORKSHIRT is an excellent deal but mostly it’s an awesome shirt. Despite my many frustrations with Gustin I still buy from them and pretty much wear Gustin outfits 300+ days/yr. If I had one request it would be to add a new jeans style that had one full inch higher waist and everything else the same as their “straight” jeans. For comparison it would be the A.P.C. “standard”. It’s time to go back to a more traditional Jean look and that means let’s bring back the rise a bit at least in one offering. If there was a second request it would be to offer the #437 SILK 40 - INDIGO as a work shirt and or trucker. I don’t care what the cost is. That material is simply too good to not be used with more diversity. I bet there are enough Gustin buyers that have the funds to back such an outrageous work shirt. As a trucker it would be a heirloom. I’m going to leave sizing out of my comment. My best guess is my review will be filtered and the 20 minutes I spent writing this was for nothing. Gustin, prove me wrong!!! I love my #168 ITALY DARK OAK WORKSHIRT. Buy two of them!!!"

What Customers Are Saying
"About a year ago, a coworker introduced me to Gustin (he rocks some of your pants to the office on the regular) and I have been watching the releases ever since. About three months ago, I finally backed a campaign. Since then, I have been so happy with all the pieces I have received."

"Just wanted to thank you for the jeans. I had high hopes and yet these exceed my expectations! I love the fabric, and I love the fit and construction. Nice, nice work."
-Jeffrey S. | Verified Buyer
"So grateful for this brand! Love the fit, finish, and quality of everything I've ever bought from here. Moreover, the pricing enables people like me to have access to quality goods which are often outside of the reach of the most working people."
