We recently got hooked up with a cache of ultra-rare, experimental selvedge styles from Cone Mills. This is our second release, and it's a must own. Nothing excites us more than discovering one-of-a-kind fabrics like this and making them available to you. This is the Black X Black.
As Cone Mills began searching for a way to improve quality by using more modern selvedge looms, it started with the long-running classics. Example - our Cone Mills 1968. What we didn't know, until very recently, was that it also began work on a limited set of experimental selvedges. Fresh colors, yarns, weights, IDs. We got tipped off to these styles, and when the swatches arrived, we were like kids in a candy store. Just so cool.
We all need a great pair of double black selvedge. If you can make it an ultra-rare, experimental style from Cone Mills, that's about as sweet as you can get. Aside from being a nice change of pace from your classic indigo, we've come to appreciate this style's versatility. Depending on what you pair it with, it can range from rugged to refined. A heather grey T-shirt and you have a rustic, casual look. A classic Oxford button down and you're ready for work or a night out. This version does it all right. Pure jet black, saturated goodness. Black to the core on both warp and weft. 13 ounces for heft, a starchy finish for true raw denim authenticity. A timeless red ID to cap it off. If you love raw selvedge, you know how special it is to find styles that very few will experience and enjoy. This is one.
