Crewneck Sweater - Charcoal Merino Wool

This Gustin Crewneck is knit from extra fine Italian merino wool. Not all wool is created equal and we've chosen the the best out there. Our 19.5 micron merino wool qualifies as extra fine and has the softest hand we've felt with a flexibility and durability perfect for the coming seasons. While the texture of this crewneck is chunky and lofty, make no mistake, it feels amazing against your skin. Unfortunately, there is not an image that conveys how robust this sweater is in person. At 1.3 pounds, you instantly sense the weight and sturdiness when you pick it up. The yarn is dyed a gorgeous dark grey, ideal for cold-weather palettes. We set out to achieve a semi-fitted piece that is both easy to wear and refined looking. The shoulders are fitted, which keeps the overall aesthetic clean. A very close examination of the body will reveal the little stitches that give shaping to the garment. The body is tapered and conforms around your chest and waist. The robust neck rib wraps perfectly around your neck but is roomy enough so that it’s not constricting. Finally, the length hits just right so it falls below the waist line. Like many staple garments in your wardrobe, our crewnecks style is defined by simplicity. It's devoid of extraneous ornamentation and it's about as straightforward as any garment can be.

Construction details are precise. Programmed to our specifications, the yarn is placed on a multi-gauge Stoll machine. The Stoll creates the body; back, front and sleeves in a 3.5 gauge jersey knit while the bottom and sleeve cuffs are in a one to one rib stitch. Once the body is finished being knit, the pieces are linked together on a linking machine. It is then washed, dried, the tags are applied, and finally the sweater is pressed. This sweater has a simple elegance that can only be achieved by the kinds of craftsmen we worked with in creating this piece.
