"It’s hard for me to believe a company like Gustin is going to put unfiltered reviews on their website.
Let’s find out.
I have bought over fourty items from Gustin. Some have been great some got sold on ebay (company would not take returns) some ended up in donations.
When they are good they are one of the best clothing companies out there. Gustin is however consistently inconsistent.
This shirt is a winner. I’m 6’1” 210 lbs and wear size L-XL other brands. This means I wear size XXL in Gustin shirts. That is the largest size they offer and on some XXL shirts I unfortunately still can not close all the buttons. Since there is no XXXL. If you’re bigger than me you may be out of luck with Gustin. The Dark Oak Workshirt is superior in many ways. The color is truly unique. It’s not brown it’s not grey. It is its own color and texture. For a beefy shirt the fabric is surprisingly soft and supple on both sides of the fabric. The back of the fabric is so soft it feels almost like synthetic fibers. This is for sure a winner and keeper. I would say it may be worth owning two of these. I personally dry clean all denim clothes (shirts and jeans). I do this for two reasons. The first is that dry cleaning unlike laundry with water will not alter the shape and size. Since Gustin runs ridiculously small I don’t want them to shrink further. Dry cleaning also keeps indigo denim looking new. Indigo is water soluble but it’s not soluble in trichloroethylene or whatever solvent modern dry clears use. I think the work shirt pockets could be improved by making them just big enough to carry a cell phone. (Needs about another 1/4”. At least on the XXL size. I want to give a shout out to Gustin for not cropping shirts short. Too many clothing companies now cut shirts short because people don’t tuck in their shirts. In my opinion a proper shirt should be long enough to tuck it if you want. Even a work shirt. I often wear the work shirt over a thin button up shirt over a tucked T-shirt. It’s important the outer shirt has the length to cover the inner shirt esp in the back.
I own eight Gustin work shirt and this is my close second favorite after the #94 HEMP INDIGO SELVEDGE WORKSHIRT Which is my all time favorite. The price is not that important to me. For $99 the #168 ITALY DARK OAK WORKSHIRT is an excellent deal but mostly it’s an awesome shirt. Despite my many frustrations with Gustin I still buy from them and pretty much wear Gustin outfits 300+ days/yr.
If I had one request it would be to add a new jeans style that had one full inch higher waist and everything else the same as their “straight” jeans. For comparison it would be the A.P.C. “standard”. It’s time to go back to a more traditional Jean look and that means let’s bring back the rise a bit at least in one offering.
If there was a second request it would be to offer the #437 SILK 40 - INDIGO as a work shirt and or trucker. I don’t care what the cost is. That material is simply too good to not be used with more diversity.
I bet there are enough Gustin buyers that have the funds to back such an outrageous work shirt. As a trucker it would be a heirloom.
I’m going to leave sizing out of my comment. My best guess is my review will be filtered and the 20 minutes I spent writing this was for nothing. Gustin, prove me wrong!!!
I love my #168 ITALY DARK OAK WORKSHIRT. Buy two of them!!!"
